The body of a Japanese man who died in hospital while waiting for a transplant has been sold for $50,000.
According to the Daily Mail, a group called Life Size Life Life Life was approached by a man who wanted to buy the body and was planning to auction it off to raise money for his medical expenses.
The man told the Mail he bought the body because he had no other options but to keep it.
The Daily Mail reports that the man was in his 40s when he died.
He was in a coma and in a stable condition when he arrived in a hospital in northern Japan.
According the Daily Post, the man said the body was part of a medical study which was carried out by a specialist, and he thought the body looked like it would be good to sell.
